Reinforcement learning is a kind of learning in which we reinforce or indirectly increase frequency of occurance of a particular behaviour by rewarding the learner whenver learner shows the behaviourwhich is also called as positive reinforcement, and another type, negative reinforcement indirectly decrease the behaviour by punshing the learner when it is exhibited by the learner.
Reinforcement works on strengthening the response of behaviour.
According to Wikipedia, strengthening may be measured as a higher frequency of behaviour, longer duration, greater magnitude, or shorter latency.
Reinforcement is used in many areas of applies psychology like addiction, dependence, drug abuse etc. In these cases we decsease the negative behaviour and reinforce positive one by using the principle of reinforcement learning.
We can see many practical examples of reinforcement learning if we try to trace in our own behaviour. Best example can be motivation. We get demotivation if we dont see rewards for long or if it is too difficult to work. While rewarding work always please us and encorage us. I will post more blogs on reinforcement learning and its practical applications. Till then keep learning. Thanks.
